Pedaling For Paul was founded in December 2016 in honor of Paul Ludwig after a four- month battle with pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most under-funded, under-recognized and least studied of all the deadly cancers. It is a fast paced, legal disease that takes no prisoners. Pancreatic Cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. By 2020 pancreatic cancer is projected to rise to the second leading cause of cancer death and the cases of pancreatic cancer are projected to increase by 55%. Only 2 out of 10 people with pancreatic cancer survive beyond 1 year after being diagnosed and fewer than 6% survive beyond 5 years- this statistic has not changed in the last 40 years. We are in dire need to research for this horrific lethal disease.
All proceeds from Pedaling For Paul events and any donations received will be donated to our partner Wings of Hope For Pancreatic Cancer Research, another Colorado based foundation committed to advancing pancreatic cancer awareness and research being conducted at the University of Colorado Cancer Center. The foundations focused efforts not only helps better define priorities, but also makes a definitive statement as to the critical urgency and need for pancreatic cancer research to continue at an accelerated pace. The University of Colorado Cancer Center is aiming to be the regional hub and national destination for pancreatic cancer research.
